Ascent to Pico de Orizaba from CDMX 2 days

We invite you to live a fascinating adventure by ascending the highest peak in Mexico, for two days you will live an experience that you will never forget. It is about ascending the Pico de Orizaba that is between Veracruz and Puebla, we will carry out a hike that will take us to its top.

During the first day we will do an acclimatization walk to the Piedra Grande refuge, where the tents will be ready so you can rest from the afternoon. We will have dinner and before sleeping, the guide will review your physical condition and make sure that you are acclimatizing. The ascent will begin at 3:00 am the next day after breakfast, our route will be the Japapa Glacier in which the altitude will be our main challenge. We will walk until we reach the summit and enjoy spectacular landscapes. Then we will descend until we reach the OMG hostel to taste a delicious well-deserved meal.

This is an intermediate level activity and we will reach a maximum altitude of 5,640 meters. Therefore, in order to join this adventure it is necessary that you have high mountain experience, we need that you have exceeded 5,000 meters of altitude in some mountain, that you have experience in the use of crampons and ice ax on snow slopes with an inclination of up to 30 degrees and that you have previously slept in a tent at more than 4,000 meters of altitude.

On the other hand, excellent physical condition is also a requirement to carry out this walk, you need to have a very good level of cardiovascular resistance and have the condition to walk on rough terrain. mountain for 8 hours with a backpack of 6 to 8 kg.

The ascent and the experience of spending the night in tents are totally safe, there will be a guide for every two people who has international experience in addition to having the WFR certification that they are first aid in remote areas.

We will include the individual technical equipment that consists of a helmet, ice axe, poles and crampons and the common one that is made up of ropes, harness, first aid kit, radios, stoves, tents and kitchen utensils.

The meeting point will be the CDMX Parque Delta Shopping Center at 6:00 am, if you need transportation to the mountain, you can request it for an additional cost.
