There are many ways to take flight and cross the sky with different air sports. In this occasion we will tell you all about hang gliding, a new way to practice sport in which you will be able to fly by gliding through the sky and without the need of an engine.

To do this, the most important thing is to take advantage of the different air currents and thermal winds. The duration of the tour, where both the pilot and you will be able to perform different tricks and acrobatics, will depend on them.

You will start the flight on foot, undertaking this new adventure from a mountain. With this sport, you will be able to fly at a maximum speed of 80 km/h and reach a height of 3000 meters. This will depend on the place where you are flying, the height of the hills and the weather conditions. All this accompanied by an instructor or in case you have a certificate, you will be able to do it alone. In all the options that you find, they will have to provide you with the security equipment.

- Hang gliding in Valle de Bravo: This municipality is located approximately 1 hour from Mexico City. It is known for being a "Pueblo Mágico" or Magical Town of Mexico and is one of the most popular places among Mexicans to enjoy a weekend getaway on its beautiful lake. Here you can find different options to fly on a Hang Glider. You can choose flights from 10 to 50 minutes, departing and flying around El Peñón. If you are lucky enough to find excellent wind currents, you will enjoy the experience flying over the lake while from the heights, you will see how other visitors practice water sports. - Hang gliding in Ixtapan de la Sal: In this magical town, located 135 km from Mexico City, you will also have options to practice this air sport. Open your mind and allow your flight to be more exciting by performing acrobatics. This municipality is known for its thermal waters and spas, places that you can enjoy admiring with the Hang Glider crossing the blue sky from above. The most beautiful landscape you will find here is the majestic Xinantéca Volcano.

If what you want is to choose a course to learn everything about this sport, in the State of Mexico you will have this possibility. There are courses that include theoretical and practical classes, where you will learn everything to practice it responsibly and in a most safe way.

Generally, these courses are intensive and for the whole public, regardless of whether you have previous experience or not. The companies usually include everything necessary for your progressive training. You will have the support of certified professionals and experts in hang gliding.

You will be able to fly with your instructors and as you progress, you will have the possibility to do it individually. At the end of your course, you will be certified and can apply for a license in SIRED, Mexico’s Federated Sports Registration System.

Another option you will discover is advanced courses, aimed at people who have experience and want to train for a competition or arrive at a higher distance than usual.

Among the concepts you will learn, you will find topics such as advanced use of GPS, special techniques for flight ascending, advanced meteorological classes, Cross Country flying on the hang glider and other ways of landing / take off.

The only requirement for this sport is that you must be over 13 years old, since the size of the Hang Glider will depend on the weight of the pilot and the person who will perform the flight.
