At Tours & Talks by Authentic Mexico we are specialized in adventure tourism on the Progreso coast , in the state of Yucatán. We collaborate with service providers in all areas to offer you everything from kayaking to archaeological tours for all ages and at affordable prices.

We propose independent or combined activities for your visit or team building event like these:

- Tour through the Progreso Mangroves : we take care of the transportation from the city of Mérida to take you to Progreso de Castro where we can share with you a brief lesson on kayaking. When the whole group is ready we will start an adventure during which we will explore some of the canals in the area by sailing. The talk of the visit will help you to learn about the importance of the ecosystem of birds that make their home here, highlighting the storks and herons. This tour includes food at sunset around a campfire that we will make ourselves.

- Excursion to Misnebalam : this time we will use ATV vehicles with which to reach the Cola del Gato Jaguar. There are kept the legends about the Ex Hacienda Henequenera currently uninhabited. Despite having spent more than a decade since its inhabitants left, there are presences from beyond the grave that have their origin in the tragic end of its owner and the little boy Juliancito.

We will go to see the Cola del Gato Jaguar , a place also called Misné Balam, and we will do it from Mérida, taking care of the transport you need from this city. Once the whole group is gathered, we will head to Paraíso where we will go down in this community that belongs to the state of Yucatán.

There will be where we will get on the ATVs to travel along roads in the mountains with the Ex Hacienda Henequenera as the goal of this part of the excursion. Formerly it centralized a large part of the henequen producers and had around 150 inhabitants who lived there with their family in most cases. At present we will find the village abandoned since its last inhabitants left it more than 10 years ago. They tell past stories that they fled from the ghostly apparitions of the owner, Don Fidencio, murdered almost a century ago, and little Juliancito, who took his own life after being abused by a worker. The guide who will accompany you will reveal that you can still hear sounds that cannot be explained.

To drink during the day we will bring water, sandwiches, fruit and energy bars.

We propose an adventure in which we depart from Mérida to arrive at Progreso around 8 am. Right on the estuary we will equip ourselves and spend some time with a little lesson on how to kayak.

Then we will walk among the Progreso de Castro mangroves . We will reach them using various tunnels and some channels that are both the habitat and migratory passage area for many species of birds. Some that we can find are the herons and egrets, the kingfisher, the great storks or the curious orioles.

At sunset we will be heading to La Tarquina to share the food that we will cook in a traditional campfire. As we make this journey we will see how the tones of these landscapes change, accompanying the sun on its journey as it sets to make way for night. After this pleasant time we will return to the same point from which we left.

Throughout the day we will provide you with transportation to the different points of the excursion, the assistance of a specialized guide and the talk of the environment that we will visit, the life jacket to wear in the kayak and a small lunch with water, fruit and an energy bar.
