Hotel Mawimbi we have the privilege of being located in a unique natural sanctuary in the Caribbean since we are on Holbox Island, the home of the whale sharks, a meeting point where these marine giants arrive every year to search for plankton.

This allows us to offer our clients the famous whale shark snorkeling activity, leaving from our beach and without taking long to travel to the area where these incredible animals swim. At Hotel Mawimbi we organize this tour on a shared trip with other clients or privately.

However, we do not limit ourselves to this excursion alone because we know that you are looking for fun emotions. For this reason, we organize kayak excursions through the mangroves of the island. Take the paddle and explore these unique tropical ecosystems where fresh water and salt water mix, creating a unique Caribbean setting.

Holbox Island is known for being the home of the whale sharks in the Caribbean, hundreds of them arrive every year looking for warmer waters rich in food. For this reason, from our beach we take you by boat to the area where they are so that, accompanied and supervised by a guide, you can swim with them.

The excursions can be shared or totally private for you and your group. The whale sharks swim so close that you can even touch them without leaving the boat. In addition, our guides will give you an introductory talk about the whale shark, its characteristics and behavior.

In addition to this tour which takes place between the months of June and September, every year. We also organize excursions to the coral reefs for snorkeling during the rest of the seasons. Specifically, we go to Cabo Catoche where we highlight the colorful fish and some sea turtles.
