San Sebastián del Oeste was founded in 1605, it was a gold and silver mining town that reached its maximum prosperity in the 1700s when it had about 30,000 inhabitants, of which only 600 remain who have been in charge of preserving the heritage colonial of his people. Today its main activities are trade and livestock, its inhabitants grow coffee and agave on the lush slopes of its mountains.
